Loving This Week: Brilliant Hair Pomade + Comfy, Stylish Shoes
Monday, February 24, 2014
A search for comfy everyday shoes that are also stylish kicks off this week’s shopping, along with a little love for a new beauty favorite and a great sale find. Here’s a peek inside our online shopping cart this week…
1. Vince Cotton-Cashmere Sweater, $107.40 (was $245.00)
I’m always on the lookout for a can’t-pass-up sale find. This week I ran into this perfectly slouchy cashmere/ cotton blend sweater from Vince. The color is a versatile neutral grey, and the cut is very Vince with its asymmetrical hem. Pair it with jeans and boots for a simple dress-down look.
2. Tory Burch Eddie Ballet Flats, $185.00
These flats are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I bought a pair two years ago in an “emergency,” having mistakenly trekked the hills of San Francisco in wholly inappropriate Calvin Klein Collection heels. Since that time, these flats have put in many dozens of miles – and as many as 10 miles in one day – as my go-to travel walking shoe. My pair is showing a lot of wear, but for the past season the Eddie flat in black was only available with contrasting beige sole. Ick. Now that the black on black is back in production, I’m snagging a new pair… as soon as I find a store that isn’t sold out of my size!
3. Sam Edelman Becker Haircalf Sneakers, $110.00
We’ve already covered how slip-on skater sneakers are one of the must-have shoes for spring. There are lots of fun options already in stores, but this new arrival strikes me as something different. It’s the first camouflage haircalf I’ve run into, and it looks fabulous -– way more luxe than I would expect for this price. Might just have to snag a pair.
4. Acne Studios Pistol Booties, $570.00
I have zero reason for buying a new pair of cold weather boots. But, I saw these Acne boots when browsing the Shopbop new arrivals section and can’t get them out of my head. They offer nice height with a sturdy heel and funky downtown look. So hard to resist.
5. Bumble and bumble Semisumo Pomade, $28.00
Isn’t it always the case, you forget how amazing a favorite product is until you introduce it to someone else and they fall instantly in love? That happened to me this weekend when I introduced my mom to Semisumo. After using it every day and getting predictably fabulous results, I just got used to it. But showing it off reminded me that this product is amazing. It gives my long layered hair a frizz-free, shiny, slightly slept in look reminiscent of Kate Moss on good hair day. Without fail. Every time I use it. I can’t speak highly enough. Run right out and try some.
