Loving This Week: Skinny Black Pants + Grey Basics
Monday, June 02, 2014
A couple items from my fashion want list went on sale this week, plus I discovered new-ish face oil that is pretty fabulous. Here’s a peek inside my online shopping cart this week…
1. Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil, $18.50 - $50.00
Don’t you love it when you stumble on to a beauty hack that just works like a dream? I can’t even begin to retrace the mental process that led to this discovery… For the past few days I’ve been layering this Fresh face oil over SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Serum and under Perricone MD Photo Plasma SPF 30 moisturizer during the day. I love the Perricone, but it’s oil-free and not quite moisturizing enough for my tastes. I usually wear a hyaluronic acid serum under it, but I had a sample of this face oil on hand and gave it a try instead. The result is plump, soft, glowing skin. The fact that the oil smells amazing is a nice bonus.
2. Caudalie Favorites Kit, $32.00 ($57.00 value)
This new arrival at Sephora features many of the best-loved products from Caudalie in travel-friendly sizes. I particularly like that this kit features mainly products that provide nice additions to an existing skincare regime, rather than things like night cream or serum that would require you to take a chance by replacing a major part of your existing plan. My favorites are the Beauty Elixir spray and the Lip Conditioner, but Hand and Nail Cream and Make-Up Remover are also welcome additions to my travel case.
3. OAK Split-Front Jersey Sweatshirt, $101.50 (was $145.00)
I spotted this funky take on a classic sweatshirt on Pinterest several months ago. I pinned it and forgot about it for a while. A couple weeks ago I started checking in on it on the Net-a-Porter site in hopes that a markdown would soon surface. My persistence paid off – it was recently added to the Net-a-Porter sale section!
4. James Perse Ribbed Slub-Knit Tank Top, $39.00 (was $55.00)
I consider James Perse tees and tanks a summer staple. They are perfectly slouchy, but just refined enough to head to work under a blazer. I ran across this dark grey James Perse tank at the Neiman Marcus outlet site this week, and the price is right. This kind of staple purchase will never turn into a shopping regret.
5. Lafayette 148 New York Cropped Skinny Trousers, $159.99 (was $278.00)
Well-tailored cropped black trousers are key piece of a modern minimalist wardrobe. I have skinny crops in a stretch cotton twill (J.Crew) and in a slouchy reverse-fit jersey (Daryl K), so I’ve been looking for a dressier wool blend to round out my collection. Found! These stretch wool trousers are gorgeous and luxe, but without the luxe price tag. Such a shopping score.
