I'll be honest, I never thought I would own a puffer jacket. I considered them to be a little too third grade for me and, being a California girl, I never understood their utility. When faced with a trip to Chicago during the worst cold spell in decades (it was -19 when we landed), I gave in and coughed up the dough for a cute little white Ralph Lauren puffer coat. That coat saved my life-- probably literally-- and turned out to be a chic addition to my wardrobe.
