FOUND: Goodies to Make Your Feet Summer Perfect

Friday, July 20, 2007

I have a little beauty confession. For the past year I have totally neglected my feet. I know, it's shameful. As most of you know, in May of last year I quit my day job as a practicing attorney and moved from San Diego to the San Francisco bay area, and then had Stiletto Jungle up and running by the last week in July. Whew! It was a whirlwind. Something had to give and, for some reason, it was my feet.

Not that I've always been a pedicure slacker. During my 7-year stint in sunny SoCal I kept my tootsies top notch year-round. It was a necessity as closed-toed shoes are practically unheard of in the downtown fashion scene no matter what time of year. But, by the time I caught my breath last year the summer was over and then it was way too cold and rainy to sport open toed shoes. Then, in March of this year, I took an extended two month stay in a miserable, state-that-shall-remain-nameless where it snowed clear through May. Now I'm back in the Bay and, well, the feet, they are a mess.

When the makers of the brand new Lamisilk Intensive Foot Therapy line asked if I wanted to review their products I took it as a sign. Time to turn my attention back to my poor little feet. Armed with Lamisilk's Exfoliating Scrub, Daily Hydrating Cream, and Overnight Moisture Seal I got down to the business of rehabilitating my poor little toes.

The Exfoliating Scrub was my favorite of the bunch. Smelling vaguely of sweet cherries and packed with cornmeal as an exfoliant, this concoction worked surprisingly well. While I was massaging it into my shower softened feet I got the impression that it was scrubbing my hands more than my toes, but after rinsing and drying I saw the full extent of it's powers. Sure, it didn't instantly smooth the rough patches, but it noticeably loosened the dead skin without making my skin feel raw or scratched. So much so that I'm sure that the patches will be history after a couple of weeks of daily use.

The Daily Hydrating Cream is kind of lost on me. Sure, it's a good idea if you run around in socks and sneakers everyday, but lotion and pumps do not mix. I'll have to pass. That's fine, because the Overnight Moisture Seal is rich, thick, and fabulous (although a tad medicinal smelling). I slathered it on before bed and pulled on a pair of plain white socks. By the next morning my feet were super hydrated and soft. A definite nightly must-use.

I think my feet might actually like me again... just in time for the best days of summer.
