As much as I adore fancy shoes, some days I wish I could just walk around in my beat up old Nike running shoes. Not that I ever would. I'm a firm believer that athletic shoes should only be worn while exercising. But, it does sound fabulous. Ahh, cushiony padded softness.
Clearly I'm not the only person who's been wishing for running shoe comfort in everyday heels. Luxury leather goods maker Cole Haan recently created a line of shoes that incorporate Nike Air technology and it's a huge hit. We're not just talking about orthopedic looking "comfort" shoes here. Cole Haan has found a way to conceal Nike Air padding into dressy heels, chic flats, and snappy sandals. I actually tried on a pair of Cole Haan Air Bria metallic woven ballet flats at the recent Macys Shoe Sale and they were ultra comfy and padded. Had they been available in any color but super shiny metallic silver I would have snapped them up on the spot.
I know what you're thinking. Cole Haan is hardly a bargain priced label. You're totally right. A pair of Cole Haan shoes can run upwards of $300. Ouch. Good thing we've been bargain shopping for you.
