The release of the latest and greatest from Marc by Marc Jacobs has become on of my favorite events each season. Marc Jacobs's quirky style in combination with his completely underrated flair for updated classics always makes for a well-rounded collection with plenty of must-have pieces. The Marc by Marc Jacobs 2008 Fall Trunk Show is no exception.
It's a tough call, but I'd say my top pick is the new Marc by Marc Jacobs Bramble Tweed Top (pictured left). The first time I saw it I did a double take, in a good way. I think that's always a good sign. This textured wool blend top features a wide funnel neck and short dolman sleeves, plus an oversized exposed zipper up the back, which adds a modern flair to this otherwise vintage-y silhouette. Id' wear it with jeans for a more relaxed look, or with trousers or a pencil skirt to the office. Any way you slice it, I'm totally smitten.
But, like I said, it was a tough call. Other favorites from the Trunk Show include the off-kilter Carousel Dots Top, the classic Quincy Sweater, and the completely work appropriate Wide Leg Stretch Flannel Pants. For the more daring fashionista, I suggest the Leather Funnel Neck Dress or the brightly color blocked Winnie Cardigan. I'm not sure I could pull of either of these looks, but I'm still totally intrigued by both.
