Mirrors can do a lot to a place… and take a lot from a place. Being in the furniture business for seven years, I bought some amazing mirrors that have livened up my home and have brought nothing but great positive reflection. And the best part is that they helped broaden the smaller spaces in my home. Mirrors represent different meaning depending on the culture or individual belief, but overall they can reflect and broaden spaces, making rooms look bigger or smaller, and they also can make images appear closer. Every home should have a mirror in the appropriate space to serve a purpose besides being able to check yourself out in it before you leave the house. There are many different sizes and shapes of mirrors to consider, but there are three I have found to serve multi-purposes.

The first mirror I found is from Crate and Barrel, which always has wonderful things that will make a difference in your home. This Harlow Mirror looks like a million bucks! I love the gold finish on this mirror. The shape is great because it will look good on a smaller wall space, or in a bathroom for your own personal touch, as opposed to the standard rectangular mirrors. Using two of these in a master bath and one over the vanity will look wonderful! Sometimes keeping it consistent in one room with matching frames can look great, unless you go overboard, which can be overwhelming. The frame is what sells the mirror.

Secondly, I found an inexpensive modern, fun mirror. This Emile Wengé Wood 5-Up Collage Mirror would be a great mirror to hang over the coach or to place on the side wall next to a small stairway. It is actually 5 little mirrors in that are placed next to one another. There is a thick wood frame design around the mirrors that is a dark espresso color-- almost black. It is a versatile mirror that can be hung horizontally or vertically. There are a lot of creative ways to utilize the mirror to its fullest potential. I noticed one of the reviewers put it behind a bar, which sounds fabulous. This mirror is contemporary, and for the price is perfect!

Now, for the icing on the cake, I have a stunning large mirror. I found this Silver Leaf Wall Mirror at Macys.com. I love the silver leaf finish and the size allows it to broaden the special feel of a room, and really make a statement. The finish makes it compatible and able to blend with most furniture. The largeness of the mirror helps when placed at the end of a hallway or in your bedroom as a way to check yourself out-- head to toe-- before you leave the house and vamp up your room with a sassy silver leaf mirror. Personally, I have my large mirror in my room leaned up against the wall and it looks great!

Mirrors capture moments when we are taking an honest look at ourselves-- we just need to be proud of the image that we see.
