I'll be the first to admit, I'm horrible at interviewing other people. I think it has something to do with being an attorney. If I'm being interviewed, we're all good. But, the minute I try to interview someone else it comes off sounding like a deposition (on a good day) or a cross-examination (on a bad day). I generally try to avoid interviewing other people at all costs. But, I gave in this week.
I was presented with the opportunity to interview Kelly Ripa and I just couldn't pass it up. First of all, I had heard nothing but good things about Kelly. From her infectiously upbeat personality to her ability to somehow do it all (and look good doing it), Kelly has a stellar reputation as a person you want to meet. Secondly, Kelly would be hard at work spreading the word about a new campaign she is working on with Electrolux appliances to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. An amazing cause and a lovely person to chat with about it? Ok, I'll bite. An interview it is!
So, earlier today I sat down to interview Kelly via Skype. We had more than our fair share of technical difficulties, as you can tell from these two videos. And the crazy looks on my face-- you can totally tell where I lost contact with Kelly because my face gets all bunched up and weird looking. Here, in part one of my technology-challenged interview, Kelly Ripa and I meet and Kelly shows off her phenomenal taste in shoes before we quickly lose contact.
On to part two, where we get down to the details of the fabulous new Electrolux Virtual Lemonade Stand Campaign to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund:
I think you can tell that Kelly is having as much fun promoting this truly inventive campaign as it will be to actually take part in the fundraising. I'm in the process of "opening" my own virtual lemonade stand now... stay tuned to see how it turns out tomorrow.
Many thanks to Kelly Ripa, Electrolux and all of the PR and techie people who helped to make this interview possible. Yes, I will continue to hate interviewing other people. But, I'm super glad I got the chance to meet Kelly-- she's every bit the charmer everyone makes her out to be-- and the chance to help spread the word about this great cause. Want to get involved? Head over to kelly-confidential.com to learn more about the campaign, open your own virtual lemonade stand and get entered for your chance to win a brand new Electrolux French Door refrigerator.
