Hiya SJ peeps! I’ve been quiet on the music front lately, but am very excited to share my holiday playlist with you and a few winter releases that I’m loving right now. I’m that annoying girl who starts up with the holiday music before Thanksgiving. Don’t worry, I don’t blast it, but I’m secretly listening to it in my ear while pretending I’m listening to something super cool and indie. SHHHH. I’m sure my secret is safe on the Internet.
For my holiday playlist, I wanted to add a bit of twist to the old holiday favorites. I have a lot of new artists singing the holiday standards, and I have some new original holiday songs to shake things up a bit. Don’t get me wrong, Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby” will always be a favorite, but it’s nice to hear something new sometimes. Here you go, straight from my iPod to yours:

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Hem
All That I Want - The Weepies
Mistletoe - Colbie Caillat
The Heartache Can Wait - Brandi Carlile
All my Bells are Ringing - Lenka
Maybe Next Year - Meiko
The Christmas Song - The Raveonettes
There is a Star that Shines Tonight – Sheryl Crow
Peace – Norah Jones
Winter Song – Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson
I’ll Be Home For Christmas – Katharine McPhee
Christmas Tree- Lady Gaga
A New York Christmas – Rob Thomas
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – U2
And check out some winter releases that have recently popped up...
Sting’s If On A Winter’s Night is a collection of really quiet and sleepy songs that provide the perfect soundtrack for my train ride home for the holiday.
Norah Jones’s The Fall is also a really cool fall/winter release and I can’t stop listening to her song “Young Blood.”
Tori Amos also has a winter CD out called Midwinter Graces with the single “Star of Wonder.”
And a not so winter release that I’m finding really fits the fall/winter weather is Mat Kearney’s City of Black & White. Check out the title track “City of Black & White” or “Lifeline”. I have been a Kearney fan from before his first album release, but this album has taken him to a whole new level, it’s awesome.
Hope you have a very happy holiday season!
