The art of looking chic and fashionable in freezing cold weather has become a bit of an obsession of mine. As a lifelong California girl, the only "cold" weather I've been forced to endure is an unusually chilly day on the ski slopes. Coats are pretty much optional year-round. Making it to work, or out on a hot date, in sub-zero temps has never been part of my routine.
But, in recent years, work of one kind or another has taken me to New York, Chicago, Minneapolis and Boston during winter. The pressure of picking something to wear to a fashion event in Chicago in February was a little more than this west coaster could handle. My obsession with cold-weather chic was born.
Fast forward a few years, and I'm still on constant lookout for fabulous coats and accessories that are both super snuggly warm and super chic. This Mackage Magda Puffer Coat with Fur Trim is my newest find.
The Magda Puffer is constructed from 100% poly -- a wet-weather must -- with rabbit fur trim. It's filled with 90% duck down / 10% duck feathers, for cozy warmth, and closes with both zip and hidden snaps, to keep the cold out. My favorite parts are the extra styling touches, like the ribbed wool cuffs that fall a little long and the sliming curved seams along the waistline. A puffer may be a cold-climate necessity, but it certainly doesn't have to be unfashionable. This Mackage puffer proves that point in a big way.
