Blake Brody Makes Fashionable Pilates, Barre and Yoga Shoes

Let's face it, going barefoot in the yoga studio is kind of gross. But, there isn't much of an alternative. Traditional athletic shoes aren't flexible enough; socks are too slippery to maintain poses. It's about time someone came up with a solution.

I first read about Blake Brody shoes in the November issue of People StyleWatch magazine. This ingenious new shoe line is designed specifically for studio fitness classes where going barefoot is traditional -- pilates, yoga and barre classes, as well as other no-impact mat classes. The designs are made to fit snugly so they won't come off during your classes, and are both breathable and anti-microbial (yay!). These indoor-only shoes are also designed to help increase stability with a no-slip fabric sole.

The prices did strike me as a little high for a pilates / yoga / barre shoe, but when I consider the price of athletic shoes for other workout-type sports, it seems about right. The range is from $98.00 for a basic shoe, to just over $200 for a super stylized version.
