--Guest Post By The Watch Hut
It’s not just the cosmetic giant Rimmel with the “London look”. Watch buyers from around the world also look to the great designers that emanate from the style capitol. As all eyes fall on the Wimbledon SW19 for a fortnight of grass court tennis, Rich Jarrott of British online retailer The Watch Hut takes a look at the great watches that are hitting the market.
Storm Watches
This English summer hasn’t been much to write home about this year, but the cold rainy season that is supposed to be warm has still been celebrated by those with an eye on style. Rose Gold is the colour to be seen in.
London based Storm Watches have always been noted for their off-beat take on the jewellery industry. The company which was founded by designer Steve Sun in 1989 offer a very contemporary feel to one of its showpiece designs with a steel mesh effect bracelet and a dial that features a cut away to show the date.
→ Buy the Storm Cyro Rose Gold Watch, $144.82, at thewatchhut.co.uk.
The brand also offers a more traditional bracelet that combines the gold tone with a pink dial. This creates a combination of tones that are pleasing to the eye.
→ Buy the Storm Misk RG-Pink Watch, $157.99, at thewatchhut.co.uk.
SuperDry
SuperDry is a great looking brand, which with its Japanese branding looks as though it belongs in Tokyo. But the brands are based in the UK and their latest venture has been in to the field of watches. Take for example the Eton watch, which teams a plain white dial with a steel case and blue leather strap.
→ Buy the SuperDry Eton Watch, $111.90, at thewatchhut.co.uk.
A similar idea is reflected in the Luxe Watch. Here, a brown strap, brown dial are dominant. Rose gold again makes a comeback on this watch, coating the steel case.
→ Buy the SuperDry Luxe Watch, $118.49, at thewatchhut.co.uk.
Burberry
The best known of all English brands however must be the iconic Burberry. The watches collection available at The Watch Hut has many pieces that incorporate the famous check pattern such as the Burberry Ladies Material Strap Watch seen on the models arm, and the rectangular-faced Pioneer Watch.
→ Buy the Burberry Material Strap Watch, $256.75 (was $427.92), at thewatchhut.co.uk.
→ Buy the Burberry Pioneer Watch, $520.08, at thewatchhut.co.uk.
However, the Burberry line is not all about the check. There are a number of other watches that are popular amongst the women’s range that are stylish without falling back on that particular trademark. One of the most interesting is this chronograph, the Burberry Ladies Utilitarian Watch. The watch features a white dial with 3 sub dials and a date window. The item is set off with its brown leather strap with stitching detail.
→ Buy the Burberry Utilitarian Watch, $724.17, at thewatchhut.co.uk.
The design choices coming out of the UK are considerable, and the new ranges show the high quality and inventiveness that is still derived from a country that is both forward looking and incredible retro at once.
