Loving This Week: Transparent Wool + Fuzzy Faux Fur
Monday, December 15, 2014
This week’s finds feel like a study in winter white options, which is funny because I don’t wear a lot of white. But, white is definitely is an eye-catching shade, particularly in a handbag or a fuzzy faux fur vest. You know what else is eye-catching? Transparent wool, even when paired with a demure under-layer.
Check out what’s taking up space in my online shopping cart this week…
1. & Other Stories Wool Top, $75.00
This transparent wool top is a perfect layering piece. A camisole or slim-fitting long-sleeve tee would make this appropriate for work, but with a hint of edge. I love the full-coverage black bra underneath for the weekend. The clean cut and slender fit is super chic, but in a relaxed kind of way.
2. BCBGMAXAZRIA Alicha Long-Sleeve Maxi Dress, $298.00
I’m not 100% sure where this dress would fit in to a wardrobe. Perhaps a brunch with the girls, or an evening performance where the dress code falls just short of formal? But I am certain that this dress is a head-turner. The poly georgette fabric hangs like a dream, while the banded waist and small back cutout work together to create a silhouette that is demure yet flattering.
3. C&C California Faux Fur Vest, $99.99 (was $158.00)
High texture faux fur in winter white has got to be one of the best guilty pleasures of cold weather dressing. Sure, this isn’t something that’s going to get a ton of wear. But, when it is worn, it will be the center of attention and oh-so-much fun. I like it with jeans and a long sleeve tee for a casual look, or thrown on over a dress for a downtown-chic nighttime ensemble.
4. Elizabeth and James Barnes Blazer, $199.99 (was $465.00)
This basic white blazer with ruched button cuffs is a great buy it now, wear it later sale find. It will look fabulous this spring paired with everything from jeans, to shorts, to dresses. This price is excellent – it will be hard to find a similar quality white blazer at this price once the warmer weather rolls around.
5. Rebecca Minkoff Bowery Satchel, $395.00
I fell hard for Rebecca Minkoff’s MAB satchels when they first came to market. I bought three in a year’s time. But, I haven’t really loved an RM design since. Except this Bowery bag, which is admittedly similar to the MAB, but just different enough to warrant its own place in my handbag closet. I love this stark putty color, but the classic black version is probably a touch more versatile.
