Loving This Week: Desert Floral Print Dress + Chic Zara Coats
Monday, February 23, 2015
I don’t wear a lot of bright color. Or prints. So imagine my surprise when my favorite shopping find of the week is a very colorful desert floral print dress. I’m still in shock, but I just can’t shake my love for this dress.
Don’t worry, the rest of my favorites, while demonstrating marginally more color that my usual picks, fit nicely in a modern minimalist wardrobe. I didn’t go completely crazy on you. Check out what’s hanging out in my online shopping cart this week…
1. Tracy Reese Cactus Flower Print Stretch Crepe Dress, $348.00
Floral prints are huge for spring, but I can’t stomach a traditional flower motif. Enter this unconventional dress, which features desert flowers in an earthy color palette of mustard, ochre, grape, and several shades of green. This is my kind of floral. And then there’s that unexpected black mesh back. Yep, Tracy Reese managed to combine the sporty and floral trends into one piece. Amazing.
2. Zara Wrap Oversize Coat, $129.00
Another big trend from the spring runways is yellow, which can be a hard color to wear. I find this deeper mustard shade much more forgiving than lighter yellow colors, and this coat is a steal. I tried it on in person at Zara this weekend -- it fits like a dream and the wool/ viscose blend comes across as very luxe.
3. Maison Scotch Lingerie Set, $55.00
I stumbled across this lace lingerie set over at Amsterdam-based Maison Scotch completely by accident. But, the lace star motif is so irreverent that I couldn’t let it float by without a shout out. This set is also available in four other colors, but, inexplicably, those sets are all standard floral lace. That’s not nearly as much fun.
4. Zara Black Boucle Coat, $149.00
This is one of those very rare Zara finds that looks a million times better in person than on the website. I spotted it first in store this weekend and fell completely in love. It’s my absolute favorite piece Zara is selling right now. So I hunted it down online. And the pictures are so disappointing. So, you’ll just have to trust me – this jacket is gorgeous.
5. Felicity & Coco Seamed Pencil Dress, $98.00
This simple, affordable fitted dress has a 4.5 out of 5 stars rating with 134 reviews over at Nordstrom. It’s a rare item that gets that kind of critical acclaim. It’s available in 10 colors, but this army green strikes me as a flattering way to embrace spring’s utilitarian trend. Then again, at this price, some basic fashion math quickly justifies springing for a second color too.
