5 New Minimalist Options from Banana Republic
Thursday, March 19, 2015
I know how much you all enjoyed the last round of minimalist finds from Banana Republic, so I thought I’d give it another go. I thumbed through the new arrivals section and came up with five brand new options for building a wardrobe of affordable minimalist basics. Check out my latest finds…
1. Banana Republic Cutaway Blazer, $165.00
I know, I’m a sucker for an interesting black blazer. But, really, can you think of a more versatile wardrobe item? What makes this specimen special: a slim, collar-less silhouette with flattering waist darts. It’s perfect for pairing with a tee for a pulled-together, yet relaxed look.
2. Banana Republic Striped Boyfriend Shirt, $79.50
This slouchy shirt will be your new weekend favorite. Reviewers complain that it’s too translucent for work, but I consider that a selling point. Pull it on over a simple black bralette, add slouchy-skinnies and sandals, and a spring outfit is born.
3. Banana Republic Small Signet Ring, $35.00
Simple, inexpensive, and demure. This gold plated ring won’t last forever, but it will look fabulous for a season or two. I’d size it for the index finger for a little added punch.
4. Banana Republic Demi Textured Scarf, $59.50
A gauze scarf is three-season appropriate and can pull together a string of separates into a cohesive outfit in a snap. This one’s available in both black and white, but I think the crisp white is the smart purchase heading into spring.
5. Banana Republic Raw-Edge Blazer, $110.00
Did I mention how much I love black blazers? It’s an affliction. This blazer gets short-listed for the raw edges and boucle-like texture. It could be dressed up or down, but I’d opt for down, playing it off like a fashion editor’s thrown-on vintage Chanel.
