Supercharged Spa Brand Bliss Launches Makeup Line
Tuesday, September 29, 2015
I’m a huge fan of Bliss Spas. I’ve been getting facials at Bliss San Francisco every six weeks for the last five years, and a massage at Bliss Midtown NYC is my favorite way to unwind after a cross-country flight. To say that I’m devoted would be an understatement.
When it comes to skincare, I think Bliss can do no wrong. So, learning that Bliss just launched a makeup line pretty much made my week. The promotional copy describes the new line as “skincare in color” and “the next step in protecting and enhancing your natural beauty.” How enticing is that?
The 39-piece line includes everything from foundation and three different concealers, to lip gloss and brushes. I have an itch to try it all, but that’s just crazy talk. Instead, I’ve narrowed down my must-try-now list to six items that have the most promise, given Bliss’s gift for skincare.
1. Bliss Feeling Bright Illuminating Under Eye Concealer, $23.00
On the list of makeup products I wish acted more like skincare, under eye concealer is at the top of the list. This version is designed to not only conceal, but also illuminate and hydrate thanks to an ingredient list that includes ash tree bark, sesame seed extract, and vitamin b3.
2. Bliss Instant Tintstint Tinted Skin Perfector, $36.00
Don’t call it a tinted moisturizer. This “skin perfector” is more akin to a primer-meets-serum super product. It can be worn alone or under makeup and is designed to improve skin tone while reducing redness, discoloration, fine lines, and shine. The formula includes skincare superstars seaweed, soapberry, and hyaluronic acid.
3. Bliss Bang! Pow! Balm! Tinted Lip Balm, $20.00
Right at the end of a Bliss facial the esthetician dabs on a light coating of Bliss lip balm. It’s instantly moisturizing and not the least bit sticky. I’m hoping this vitamin e and shea butter concoction is a more colorful version of that balm.
4. Bliss Un-Buffing Believable Smoothing Finishing Balm, $35.00
This balm is the most unique new product in the Bliss line. It’s a silky formula that promises to diffuse the appearance of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles while setting makeup. As someone who is 100% against the use of face powder after the age of thirty, I’m super intrigued. This could end up being a holy grail type product find.
5. Bliss in a Blush Serum Blush, $28.00
Serum everything seems to be the flavor of the week in the makeup world, but I’m not mad. We’ve all figured out that serums are the key to an effective skincare routine, so why not embrace serum makeup. This blush boasts soothing soapnut and softening antioxidant grapeseed oil, plus a dropper dispenser to ensure complete control over the amount of product released each time.
6. Bliss Accent Lighting Brightening Pencil, $20.00
There’s nothing revolutionary about a pencil, but there is something special about the formula. It contains avocado oil, grape seed oil, and algae extract, so you are actually nourishing your skin while highlighting. Plus, I think the super slim pencil will make highlighting the inner corners of the eyes, the brow bone, and the cupid’s bow super easy. It comes in three shades, so there’s a highlighter for every skin tone.
Will you be giving the new Bliss makeup line a try? Or have you already? Let me know in the comments!
