Loving This Week: Street Style Lace-Ups + a Suitcase Upgrade
Monday, October 17, 2016
I’m having a Shopaholic moment (the book, not the disaster of a movie). Similar to the heroine, Becky Bloomwood, I’m figuring out quite late in the game that shopping for luggage is a lot of fun. Once you look past the boring utilitarian bags available at the local big box store, there are some pretty fabulous options out there. Current obsession: Away, a new line of luxe suitcases at not-so-luxe prices.
In other news, I’ve totally fallen for the Glossier hype. Their Generation G lipstick is calling my name.
The rest of my favorite online shopping finds for the week…
1. HOPE Caitlyn Sweater, $345.00
I first fell for Swedish label HOPE last year, when the Grand Sweater was all the rage on Pinterest. After a fairly involved online search, I snagged one in black. This new 100% boiled wool Caitlyn sweater is in the running to be my second HOPE purchase.
2. Everlane The Brixton Lace-Up Shoes, $175.00
Has Everlane ever released a dud? I’m thinking no. This newest shoe release is a flawless combination of classic polish and cool girl street style. That chunky crepe sole is everything. I can already tell is going to be my favorite everyday shoe for fall.
3. Rag & Bone Pilot Satchel, $695.00
When it comes to daily-wear handbags, I’ve been stuck on the 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Hour Bag for a long time. I wasn’t sure I’d ever run across a mid-price bag I liked as much. Then I saw this bag. A new love is born.
4. Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Like, $18.00
The Glossier hype machine was in full effect last week as the beauty label rolled out two new shades of Generation G matte lipstick. I won’t even pretend, I ate it all up. Their Instagram story of different people around their office trying on all of the Generation G shades was particularly compelling marketing. I’m now obsessed with trying this lip-stain-meets-lip-balm wonder. The subtle pink Like is my shade of choice, but it’s available in six colors altogether.
5. Away The Large Suitcase, $295.00
Last month I tore up my five-year-old Heys X-Case suitcase (similar here) hauling it around Edinburgh. Cobblestone sidewalks and already beat-up rubber wheels do not mix well. I’m pretty sold on getting one of these new Away bags as a replacement. Their large is just about the same size as my old X-Case, but almost a full pound lighter. Plus, the Away suitcase features a built-in compression system to further support my serious over-packing habit, a built-in TSA-approved lock, and a nifty removable laundry bag.
